Learning Objectives:
Understand there is strong evidence for immune dysregulation in the central nervous system (CNS) and periphery in synucleinopathies.
Understand animal models of synucleinopathies can faithfully recapitulate many aspects of clinical disease including alpha-synuclein inclusions pathology, demyelination and neurodegeneration, as well as evidence of immune dysregulation.
Understand that interventional strategies targeting innate and adaptive immunity in mouse models of synucleinopathies are neuroprotective and warrant future investigation.
