Alice Long PhD is an Associate Member in the Center for Translational Immunology at Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) in Seattle. Her lab is focused on understanding underlying mechanisms of T1D progression, patient variability, and response to therapy. Currently, her lab is focused on three inter-related projects in T1D: causes and consequences of reduced IL-2 signaling, mechanisms of CD8 T cell exhaustion as it relates to T1D clinical outcome, and biomarkers of T1D severity. Her lab activities are complemented by her key involvement with the Immune Tolerance Network and TrialNet, two large international consortia doing T1D clinical trial work. Integral to all of these studies is inter-disciplinary research and use of the BRI Human Immunophenoytping Core for which she is the supervising PI.
